Something BIG

In less than 24 hours, I'm leaving on a jet plane for South Africa. This 'mission' has been heavy on my heart for the last 2 years. The AIDS pandemic is something that is easily ignored in high society America because it's not in our faces. Bono has used his fame to bring this disease to our attention (http://www.joinred.com/). However, is this campaign a fashion statement or a passion for us?
After a 30 hour stint of travel, we'll land in Capetown, South Africa. It's the utmost tip of the southern portion of Africa. People say it's a beautiful place; the ocean and surroundings are heavenly. I'm eager to see the landscape but most eager to accomplish the mission God's sending us on.
The busyness of these last few weeks have tried to overshadow my passion and preparation; however, God continues to burn an excitement in me and keeps me praying for this trip.
I went on a 'solitude retreat' this year and spent lots of quiet time with the Lord. I found no large words from the Lord. The only thing I heard was 'Wait. I've got something BIG for you.' My life is on a journey for something great for Christ. I KNOW this trip to South Africa is part of that 'BIG' and I'm excited to see where it takes me. I want nothing more than to do God's will and to hear His voice. To know Him more through active service and glean wisdom from Him is my goal.
I'm on to something BIG and I'm eager to see what that is!
