In more detail:
Friday's work day was great! Had an eye-opening lecture from a drug addiction specialist. He counseled the LSEs and Volunteers on how to guide and help the kids and teens dealing with drugs in their homes, parents who are alcoholics, how to help them NOT follow that path.
Then, I met with my Teens Team. They brought me up to speed on the new direction of the LSEs, their plans in the next few months, the colleges they've been asked to speak at, and just got to know them. One guy on the team, Timmy, said, "it seems like you've been here forever, you just fit right in;" Shagmie said, "She has been here a long time… just through our hearts and the computer." Shagmie has been a constant friend (emailed me frequently since my last trip to SA in June) and has helped greatly in my transition to South Africa and Living Hope.
Picked up my long-term rental car. Danielle also rents from these people and took me there to pick up my Toyota Tazz. It's a white, manual/stick shift, with air conditioning! His name is William (given by the rental agency)- I'll call him, Prince William!
Had dinner at my friend, Jakes' house. She once worked for the Team House, got married and moved over the mountain, and now works for her local church. Danielle invited me to come with her to Jakes' (real name: Jenni-Kate). We had spaghetti and salad and ice cream. We sat and talked for HOURS. It was neat to jump right in and begin this friendship again. This is yet another answered prayer!
Friends, THANK YOU for your thoughts and prayers. I feel them, need them and know that my faith is strengthened by your support.
