Most of you know of my friend Maggie. She was one of the first people and stories to capture my heart in Capricorn. Maggie retired from Living Hope last month and I haven't seen her since. My friend Alicia and I had dinner with Maggie tonight in her sweet little home in Capricorn. We picked up dinner at KFC and spent precious time with her over fried chicken and fries. Maggie never ceases to amaze me. I was practicing my Afrikaans on her when she quickly went to her book shelf and told me I needed 'this' ... She handed me an English to Afrikaans dictionary. She told me, "Next time you come to my house, you better not be speaking that non-sense." We got a good laugh at her strong words.
[And for the record, my Afrikaans was correct and she understood what I was saying, I just don't have very useful phrases in my vocab yet. I know phrases like: "I must go lock the door. You're not right. You all are making a noise. You lie. I love you." I'm working on it. The teens in Capricorn make me practice each time I see them and add another phrase or two every day.]
