5.4K - Living Hope Diabetes Walk

Last weekend, Living Hope Support Groups invited all of Living Hope and the surrounding communities to join a 5.4K Diabetes Walk. This disease is wide in South Africa, so this walk was for awareness and to get those effected by Diabetes active!
Two of my favorite Teen Club guys from Ocean View wanted to walk with us, so Meagan and I picked them up early that morning and went to the start-line. It was great having them there- they provided lots of excitement and entertainment - and getting to spend time with them outside of Afternoon Club was really valuable.
The walk started at Fish Hoek beach and ended at the Living Hope Campus. The campus was full of vendors (mainly Living Hope community workers) selling goods they'd made (bags, jams, lunch-food, crafts, etc). There were rotations of live bands and games. Meagan, the teens and I especially loved the jumping castles (inflatables). Having kids around gave us a reason to act like children... not like that's ever stopped me from acting silly before!
The weather wasn't so nice. It rained off and on but we looked at that positively as it kept us cool on a week where we'd seen some deep summer heat.
Although I didn't jog the whole 5K, I was proud that I made it through. I'm still hoping to jog/run a 5K in the very near future. I guess this was good practice!

Here's a visual taste of the big event:

A little damp and tired ... and still silly!
