Our Living Hope Community Leader Training - Unit 2 was this past Saturday. About 30 local youth leaders (and some of their faithful youth) attended our training. There were churches represented from all the communities Living Hope works with plus some (Masi, Ocean View, Overcome/Capricorn, Red Hill, Steenberg). It's been really neat to watch this 'Leadership Training' idea grow and seem to be meeting the needs of our local leaders. I personally can't effect all the youth in these communities, but I can invest in their leadership, building up the local church with training and support and allow those leaders transform the lives in their ministries! It's really powerful if you think about it!
The first training focused on Mentoring and Discipleship and the basis of how Jesus did ministry with the 12 Disciples; it also had units on Personality and building a team around your strengths and weaknesses. This second training focused on what is means to have a 'Healthy Group,' we tested their leadership skills with an activity, had some of the guys do a role-play about member-roles and how different personalities help or hinder a group and concluded by discussing leadership strategies and helping these leaders see the need for proper communication and group-member ownership.
We're aiming to have one training per quarter. Unit 3 is tentatively scheduled for May and will build on the trainings previously. We hope to take these trainings and rotate them in the coming years! Praying God continues to give us His favor in relationships with the local church (which is a HUGE deal here) and gives us wisdom in how to lead and guide in these relationships.
