The Second-Annual South African Christmas in
June was a raging success on Sunday. Due to South African Christmas (Dec) being
in the summer months, Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas. So, last year I
decided I’d celebrate Christmas during the South African winter (June/July)! We
were privileged to have my 3 Shades Mountain Baptist Church gals attend and 2
of my sweet Capricorn children. Meagan and I cooked all Saturday night for the
feast on Sunday after church. It was fabulous!
We had:
Raven’s Nest cider with fruit slices mulling
on the stove
Carrot Souffle
Spicy meat balls
Deviled Eggs
Brown Onion Potatoes
Cinnamon Cream Cheese Logs
Home-made sugar cookies
Decorations were up: nativity, lights and a
small Christmas tree!
We played a South African Christmas game.
We watched “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
And opened gifts (from my American gals!)
It felt like Christmas. It was a great
remembrance of American Christmas Traditions. And of course we prayed and
thanked the Lord of sending His son for us! It was a memorable day for all!
