World AIDS Day 2012
Due to our HIV/AIDS crisis in South Africa, we're active participants in the awareness of World AIDS Day, annually on Dec 1. Here's more info about World AIDS Day and National Publications about the HIV pandemic. Here's info about HIV rates and statistics in South Africa.
The stigma and nature of this disease is paralyzing. Yes, we're talking about these hard topics and private matters more and more, but the shame and embarrassment is overwhelming. This is still a disease that is hidden from loved ones simply because of fear of judgement. We as Christians should stand up and welcome these sick and dying with open arms and offer them the hope of Jesus Christ - who sees all our sin and shame as equal. And let's not forget those that have this disease out of no consequence of their own. HIV is not a "consequence" anymore. It's a fast-spreading, deadly reminder that no one is untouchable and free from the pain that reaches to all those who love someone with HIV.
Get educated.
Cast your judgements aside.
LOVE.
and most of all ...
PRAY
Take a moment to pray for those fighting this deadly disease.
. Pray that Christ-centered ministries will act as a Body of Believers in supporting those living with HIV.
. Pray that discipleship of young children and youth would result in HIV prevention and educated Biblical lifestyles.
. Pray for the innocent victims.
. Pray for the children affected by this disease - whether they be infected themselves because of parental HIV, living with someone who has HIV, or coping with the loss of a loved one with HIV. Our children are suffering mentally, emotionally and spiritually while dealing with the affects of HIV among our community.
. Pray for those of us who are burying our friends and family in Capricorn (far too often) because of this disease.
