Week of Prayer and Fasting

Our pastor recently led our congregation through a Week of Prayer and Fasting. We were praying for ministry that will take place in 2013, for families in our church, for our community, and for spiritual breakthrough.  We met for Prayer Meetings and Worship each night of the week.

The Fast was challenging. The physical aspect of fasting was only the beginning of the challenges we faced. In the emotional and spiritual realm, we as a Body of Christ were tested. Yet, God was triumphant and delivered blessings upon blessings as we sought His face. Our people were unified and acted like a true family. We dug deeper in the realm of relationship and truly gave our requests over to each other to lay before the throne of grace.

The Friday night, our final day of Fasting, we held a "Prayer Room" with interactive stations and prayer guides. This self-guided experience helped us commune with God in a personal way - taking our time at each station and really soaking up time with the Lord.

The biggest blessing of the night was when one of our youth (new to our church) came up to me and told me "I'm done with my sin. I need to accept Christ in my life." I smiled and gushed with excitement. I asked him to tell me in his own words why he felt this was the decision he wanted to make. Upon a beautifully simple answer of "I know I need Christ. I can't put it off," I asked him to speak to our Pastor. Severo talked to this youth for a long time, making sure he understood the depth and seriousness of this commitment.  That night, one young man accepted the Lord in a real and genuine way. This wasn't a youth rally or a conference where a lot of hype and pressure fell; this was a Prayer and Fasting week where God answer our prayers and became real to many in our church!

Praise God for His Grace and Mercy. He's doing a new and wonderful thing in Capricorn Community Church!

Breaking our Fast with a communal feast. We each brought one item to share with each other.

This week really reminded me of Acts 2: meeting together daily, praising God, breaking bread & sharing food, and the Lord adding to their numbers daily!
