wisdom from a local South African pastor

I had a meeting with 2 pastors from a local church in Vrygrond (Capricorn) this past week. We were gathering to discuss children's ministry and how we can team up to reach more children for Christ! It was such a neat conversation and I watched God put like-minded hearts together!

My heart for this partnership - specifically a Holiday Club/VBS in June - centered around sharing the Gospel clearly, paired with strategic follow-up. I told them I was "saved" at age 7 at a VBS, and I remember this event being the catalyst to my spiritual eyes being opened. I want other children to experience the same thing! I want the children of Capricorn to have Biblical foundations to help them grow spiritually for the rest of their lives!

The 70 year old pastor looked at me and said, "This is an answer to prayer!" He explained that they have only 35 children in Sunday School and in 2014 decided they'd prayerfully ask God to grow their ministry to children. Our conversation was lining up to His vision for their church!

He then remarked on my comment about being Gospel-focused during this week of special ministry. He said, "I believe you can't shout the Gospel and then leave it in the air. Follow-up is important." The Believer must be planted and given proper soil for growth!

What a beautifully Biblical statement!
I'm so excited about the relationships God is bringing to our staff. We're truly IN our community now and people are seeing The Church's heart for community development and transformation. Praising God for the future of Children's Ministry in Capricorn!
