In darkness everyday

Recently in South Africa, our electricity has been cut for about 2 hours each day. Here's an article that came out today about the comparison of the financial crash in the USA (2007/2008) to the crisis happening in South Africa (click here for the article from NEW24 SA, 9 Feb 2015).

A few things come to mind when I'm in the dark these days:

1. Its a reminder that I do not live in America. This electricity crisis would not be acceptable in the USA. Even in times of financial strain, comfort reigns in the USA and power outages every day would cause a riot! Here, we seem to just take it and adjust.

2. Crime opportunities are more rampant during the darkness. I must pray more during these hours ... Not for myself only but for my friends that live in the more crime ridden community. Pray with us!

3. I light one candle and there is light. But when I light a few, my whole house is illuminated. Its a reminder that the Christian community needs togetherness. Our light in numbers is important!

Jesus says, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
