In an effort for our Youth to make an impact on their community, we did a Friday Youth Gathering focus on "mapping." We took a map of Capricorn and used butcher paper and color-duck-tape (thanks to leftover resources from a visiting team) to enlarge it.
Week one:
We asked our Youth to think about their street and write down what positive and negative things happen on their road. We then moved them to the large map and let them plot their homes, positive places (such as churches, parks, schools) and also asked them to plot negative influences (bars, witch-doctors/traditional healers, gangster territory, drug houses).
Week two:
We did a study on Moses (Numbers 13 & 14) and how he interceded for rebellious people and God listened! Then we asked the youth to pray in faith that God would transform Capricorn, that the negative influences of Satan would be demolished, that families would come to Salvation in Christ and be true worshipers! Our youth laid hands on the map - targeting specific roads and areas where Christ's intervention is needed. It was a powerful sight to see and a memory I'll never forget. Watching faith-filled youth pray for Capricorn was powerful!
