The holiday that's simply about food and giving thanks.
Oh how I miss it.
Each year I try to celebrate as best I can ... without making too much of a fuss. After all, I'm the only one who's really celebrating. My South African friends just humor me because it means food will be involved. This year was very quiet. Just me and my house-mates. We improvised and made a Thanksgiving-ish meal, decorated paper turkeys, and watched an Everybody Loves Ramond DVD of their Thanksgiving meal at the in-laws place.
A very festive, hot, summer, South African/American Thanksgiving!
American goodies left by my visiting friends last month! |
Our humble table - yes, that's chicken, not a turkey. Note our turkey craft as well! |
Dinner guests, all full! Meagan, Gherkin, Mel! |
