What do you do all day?
To answer that question, you must know my responsibilities:
I just began to work with a new group of children in our community. I’ve joined up with the Art Department at the one and only primary school in Capricorn. The school teaches around 400 students grades K-7. I teach remedial Art Classes in the afternoons, assist in Strategic Planning and Leadership Development
Church is my main priority. I help with the Youth Ministry and also lead a Sunday School class on Sunday mornings. This ministry requires planning, study, prayer, parent communication, counseling and special events. I also a couple of our Sunday School children one day a week in the afternoon. I’m learning that Education is a route to relationship here. Not many people know how to invest in education and support children and youth in their study efforts. This sort of time-spent is an avenue for the Gospel!
Along with “ministry opportunities,” there’s a lot of Admin that comes along with being a missionary: paperwork, reports, receipt logs, blog writing, legal documents, etc. Then there’s donor communication and constant fundraising. … that’s a topic for a whole other blog post!
I’m also a part of an Adult Bible Study one night a week.
It’s hard to balance ministry and personal-life because there’s a lot of overlap. I’m working on boundaries and self-care, but when your life and focus is “this mission” all things seem to merge.
So, I can't give you a weekly schedule or day-to-day responsibilities, but rather a picture that life is a balancing act here ... as it is everywhere! Just imagine me running around like a chicken with her head cut off! :)
