My friend, Paula, gave me a going away gift that I've yet to truly enjoy. She LOVES music, so she made me an old fashioned "mix tape" (now on CD). I had to go down town to pick something up from a friend, popped in the CD (as curiosity was killing me) and began to cry. Paula told me she'd chosen songs that made her think of me or that we had a memory about, but I had no idea it was going to touch me like it did. I quickly skipped through the CD and couldn't listen to any song in its entirety. It was a huge sign I haven't fully processed leaving, how much I love my friends in Birmingham and what's about to hit me when I get to a foreign land. These last few days are bound to be emotional. I'm going to wait to listen to that CD when I can be alone and cry. It was a beautiful gift that will help me process and weep... later.
Lovely lunch with my Weeks/Neill gals. Went to Chez Lu Lu... one of the girly places I love to eat. These precious ladies treated me to lunch- my favorite pear, goat cheese, walnut salad! It was a great memory and broadened the horizons of my friends (of places to eat in Birmingham).
Had dinner with Sherri and Anna at Newks. Went back to their house for laundry and unexpected moments of great laughter. Those Foyts get me laughing! Taught Anna to Skype so we can talk in South Africa!
